She steps into the life of her donor's husband Zack and toddler Amy, finding clues, but not the definitive answer and peace. Forever In Her Eyes (Search For Love, #9)Forever In Her Eyes by Karen Rose Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Forever in her eyes by Karen Rose Smith is a 2016 publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This emotional, but satisfying, love story is centered around Melanie Carlotti, a woman who lost everything she held dear, including her eyesight, but cornea transplant saves her from permanent blindness.

However, when Melanie begins having vivid and troubling dreams, she becomes convinced she is experiencing events from her donor’s past. Needing answers, Melanie contacts our favorite psychic, Gillian, for help.

Once Melanie knows who the donor was, she accepts a job from the woman’s husband, Zack, and in the process, meets his young daughter, Amy. She keeps her secret from Zack until she knows what her dreams may mean, but soon finds herself falling in love with him and Amy.

But, what will Zack think when he learns the truth? Could Zack and Amy become the family Melanie so fervently longs for?

I loved the paranormal element in this novel more so than in previous books in the series because it added such a sweet quality to the story. An unresolved issue that is tearing at Zack’s conscience will finally be put to rest, giving him the peace he needs to move forward with his life.

At first, Zack is pretty dark, always brooding and moody, and I wondered if he could be trusted, but little Amy brightens the atmosphere and helps pave the way for Melanie in her relationship with Zack.

I wasn’t sure if Melanie was doing the right thing at first, and it still could have horribly backfired on her, but in the end, she is the catalyst that leads Zack back to the land of the living.

The final scenes in the book will leave you misty -eyed , but your heart will be warmed and filled with hope for Melanie and Zack, two people who truly deserved a second chance at happiness.

Overall, this is a very touching and sweet love story, and is one of my favorite stories in this series.

Once a doctor, Zack leaves tragedy behind and heads for a life that once brought him peace. After selling his Internal Medicine practice in L.A., he finds a temporary job on the Rising Star Ranch in Wyoming. Lucy McIntyre, adopted into a large family who loves her, does her father a favor by checking the man's references as well as doing a face to face interview. Always grateful for the family who accepted her no matter what, Lucy never expects the sizzling magnetic pull toward Zackary Burke. Almost immediately she realizes he's a complicated man. But she has her own secret. And in the middle of the Zack's interview she receives an unusual call from the family lawyer that could lead her on a search for a lost sibling.

Complicating life further on The Rising Star, Lucy's brother Marty is drinking too much and Lucy is covering for him. Zack tries to convince her brother needs help, but Lucy is hoping the
situation will resolve itself on its own. She knows Zack is a loner and a drifter and doesn't intend to stay. But they are still drawn together and can't deny their sizzling attraction. Although The McIntyre family accepts Zack into their fold, at first his heart is hard against emotions he doesn't want to feel. But Lucy begins to change all that...she thaws his heart and leads him to love and happily-ever-after

Always Her CowboyAlways Her Cowboy by Karen Rose Smith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Always Her Cowboy by Karen Rose Smith is a 2013 publication.

This is the fourth installment in the ‘Search for Love’ series.

I love a good western style contemporary romance, especially those that blend strong family ties in with the romantic elements to create an emotional story with depth and feeling.

This story, centers around Lucy McIntyre, who is adopted at birth, and is very close with her family, but has recently discovered she may have a biological sister. She’s very interested in finding her sister, but she also has her hands full on the ranch where her brother is going through a rough patch and she is trying to cover for him. To that end, she has hired Zack to help out at ‘The Rising Star’.

Almost immediately the connection between them is palpable, but Zack makes it quite clear he has no intention of sticking around. He’s a loner, a traveler, a drifter, and he likes it that way, thank you very much, but the more time he spends around Lucy, the harder it becomes to resist the attraction between them. Wanting to give into the passion and desire they both feel, wanting to live in the moment, but knowing Lucy deserves more, Zack has a lot of soul searching to do.

Can love heal Zack’s broken heart and help him find peace again?

This story is sweet, a little saucy and sexy, and emotional on several fronts. The topics range from dealing with the death of loved ones, problem drinking, infertility, and family connections.

That is a lot of ground to cover, but the author brought all the elements together nicely to give this couple the happily ever after they both deserved.

I did worry about Zack a lot, as his pain is quite obvious, but his stubbornness was almost his undoing. Lucy, put up with him for a time, but I was afraid she was about to throw in the towel. Whew, he was one tough nut to crack! But, I ended up really liking him and think he is perfect for Lucy. The family issues were also compelling and thought provoking, adding a lot of depth to the story.

Overall, this is an enjoyable and touching story.
