Spotlight on Kresley Cole - Immortals After Dark Series- Favorite Quotes From A Hunger Like No Other

With bated breath, we are all eagerly awaiting the long anticipated new release by Kresley Cole in Immortals Dark Series- Sweet Ruin.   To celebrate this sensational and incomparable series  and the upcoming release The Book Review is spotlighting The Immortals After Dark series and the brand new cover art -all during the month of  November.
Today's Feature is on the first full length novel in the series:

I thought it would be fun to look back on some of the more memorable quotes from the book that started it all:

A Hunger Like No Other

“She'd made him watch every Alien movie. Most of the goriest scenes were accompanied by his dialogue: 'Ach, that's no' - that's just no' right.... Bloody hell, this canna be right.”

“He'd given her the mother of all hangovers - a run-in with the wrath of grapes.”

“Emma turned to him, bottom lip trembling. “For me?”
“Always for you. All things for you. He coughed into his fist “All your own.”

“You’re mine, Emma,” he grated between ragged breaths. “Do you understand what I’m telling you? … Do you understand me? Always.”
… “It’s you, Emma. It’s always been you.”

“The Valkyrie did not believe in coincidence, only fate. And sometimes fate didn't even bother being subtle.”

“It’s not if you castrate an entire Roman legion, it’s if they believe you did. Perception is everything.”

“I believe in times of adversity there’s a line that is sometimes drawn, a line that separates your old life from your new. You cross the line, you’ll never be the same.”

My Review:

A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2)A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first full length novel in this series. A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole is a Paranormal/ Vampire/ Urban Fantasy.

Emma is part Valkyrie, part Vampire, and has been raised by her "aunts", because she never knew who her parents were. She has been kept away from vampires as a precaution and because she is like no other creature, she has no close friends and has never had a lover. She lacks confidence in herself and is easily pushed around by others. Burning for information about her parents, she travels to Paris only to find herself kidnapped by a Lykae.

Lachlain has been held captive by vampires for over a century. He has been tortured ruthlessly all those years, but, once he catches the scent of his mate, he breaks free to find her. To his utter horror he discoveres she is a vampire.

Lachlain keeps Emma with him even though he doesn't understand how on earth she could be his life mate. Emma fights him tooth and nail but they strike an uneasy alliance when Lachlain convinces her to stay with him until the next full moon by promising her jewels and gifts knowing the Fey have a weakness for shiny things. But, Lachlain doesn't intend to ever let her go.

Emma misses her coven and wants to go home so bad, especially since Lachlain has not taken very good care of her. He nearly let the sun get her once, then nearly lets her starve to death, and refuses to her return to her coven.

Once Lachlain learns who Emma is, he knows he has to convince her to WANT to stay with him.

Once upon a time I read paranormal and urban fantasy more than any other genre. But, when every romance author on the planet climbed aboard the Paranormal train, I began to lose interest. However, this series has garnered so much praise I decided to see what all the fuss was about.

I am happy to say that I LOVED this book!! Emma is really funny without it being forced. It was just a part of the character. She was rather self effacing at times, and lacked confidence in herself. But, she grows strong as she spends more time with Lachlain.

Lachlain is the perfect Alpha male hero. He comes from a different time and has some trouble adjusting to things in the present day such as cell phones, computers, and driving a car. But, he is a quick study. He is overbearing sometimes and refuses to yield at all. But, he means well and does his best to make Emma happy.
In the end the two of them will help each other to overcome all their pain. HEA of course. I hope the series will continue to be this good.
Super sexy, very imaginative, and unlike any other urban fantasy I have ever read. I have a feeling I am really going to enjoy this series.
