Can she convince her son’s guardian she is not a dangerous lunatic and is perfectly capable of raising her son or will he always consider her untrustworthy as a mother to his ward? Will his stubborn blindness send her straight into the path of the murderer, or will he relent in time to save her from following her husband into the grave?
EXCERPTS (Please choose only ONE to use with your post):

Excerpt:

Freedom. Freedom. Freedom. Each rotation of the hired coach’s wheels whispered the word. Laurel cradled her sleeping two-year-old son, the new Lord Laningham, as a heady sense of satisfaction curved her lips. She didn’t even mind the slight musty odor pervading the vehicle, although she leaned over and raised the window cover for a breath of fresh air. With a sigh she settled back against the seat. At least for a while, Rhonda’s constant complaints would no longer ring in her ears and for that she was devoutly thankful.

Out of nowhere, a rider flashed by the coach window and her startled gaze locked with his brief glance. Although she’d caught only a glimpse of the stranger, in that instant his intense, deep-brown eyes mocked her and unease shivered down her spine. She stared after him for a second before instinctively gathering her child closer. Laurel planted a kiss on his blonde curls, drawing reassurance from the nearness of his warm little body. As long as she had Jamie nothing else mattered. Her son must remain safe.

Everything happened at once. The coach lunged to the right and scraped against the bushes beside the road, sending a shower of droplets splashing inside the window. Her book and Jamie’s wooden horse thumped to the floor. The racket of brakes screeching shrilled in her ears as the vehicle rattled and lurched out of control.

"Jamie," she cried.

MY REVIEW:
Conduct Unbecoming a Gentleman by Wareeze Woodson is a Soul Mate Publishing release. This is a 2013 copyright. I was  provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Laurel's husband left her in a bind when he died. His sister, Rhonda, was remembered in his will, and their son was to be his cousin Lord Adron's ward. So, when Laurel attempts an escape with her son, she is chased down and her son was taken from her by Adron's men.

Once she locates Lord Andron's estate, he sees she is determined to stay with her son. So, he offers her a deal. She can become an unpaid member of the staff and be a nanny to her son and other children that are currently on estate. Having no choice by law, Laurel takes what she can get in order to be with her son.

Lord Adron believes the worst of Laurel. He was led to believe she brought his cousin to the ultimate despair that caused him to take drastic measures.

But, Laurel surprises Lord Adron by being a caring, hands on mother and having a wonderful way with children. No matter what he throws at her, she is able to withstand it. But, he can not withstand his attraction to her.
In the middle of this drama, there are some valuable jewels that Laurel's husband, Robert had hidden somewhere. Rhonda and her cohorts are desperate to find the jewels. In the process, Rhonda continues the plot against Laurel, insinuating that Laurel may be a jewel thief. She is even more determined to get rid of Laurel when she notices the attraction Lord Adron has for Laurel. Rhonda has set her heart on marrying Lord Adron herself.

With each passing day, Laurel and Lord Andron fall deeper in love with each other. But, Lord Andron has some issues with women he will have to overcome before he can win Laurel over. First ,the jewel thief must be caught and the jewels found.

This was a really entertaining historical romance set during the regency period.
Lord Andron is terrible in the beginning. He is terrified of being duped by a beautiful woman, which is what led, in part, to his bad attitude toward women.
Laurel was innocent is all things, but was admittedly naïve when she first married and her husband didn't do the right thing by her from the start. But, as worldly as the men in the story liked to think themselves, they too were rather naïve. They were deceived time and time again, but were too blind to see.

So, Lord Andron was easily led to believe whatever he was told about Laurel and usually it wasn't good.

You will get frustrated with Adron a great deal. I didn't have much empathy for his side of things except maybe his bad experiences in the past. There is a certain conniving woman that has everyone wrapped around her little finger and I found myself becoming quite annoyed when all the men continue to fall for her manipulations.
Laurel isn't as naïve as she once was though and shows a little backbone.

Will Lord Andron finally wake up and smell the coffee? Will the jewel thief be discovered?

There were lots of twist in the story. A shocking reveal will set you back on your heels and really get you thinking about the jewel thief mystery.
A quick entertaining read that is not like other regency period romance novels. But, I couldn't help but wonder if maybe a great deal of pain couldn't have been avoided by making some changes in those horrible British laws in regards to women's rights.
What do you think?
Over all this one is a B+

VOODOO ON BAYOU LAFONTE BY SUSAN C. MULLER

EXCERPT:

Gabby didn’t speak on the way to Sherri Lynn’s, the next stop on their interrogation route. Her hands were shaking and her voice probably was, too. Besides, what could she say to Remy? You shouldn’t have beat up that guy? That would have been a lie. The creep deserved everything he got. I didn’t know you could do that? Maybe. At least that would have been the truth. You shouldn’t have told Dan to shut his trap or called him a walking piece of shit? That was very true. Dan Cryer never forgot, and he never forgave.

Oh, and by the way, for someone who seemed so eager to sever the marital connection, when did I become your wife again?
She clasped her still-trembling hands in her lap and stared out the front window.

Remy didn’t take his eyes off the road as he spoke. "Would you like to get a cup of coffee, something to eat, before we try the next girl?"

Eat? How could she eat? Her stomach was in knots and her heart was about to punch a hole in her chest. "Don’t you think we should try to get to Sherri Lynn’s before Claudine or her father decides to call over there?"

"Claudine’s not going to say anything, not for a long time. And Dan is inside changing his underwear and trying to convince himself the last fifteen minutes never happened. The last thing he’ll ever do is tell anyone. Right now we’re both upset, and Sherri Lynn is our last chance. We need to calm down before we face her."

Gabby sighed. Remy was right. They did need to settle down. "Papite’s is still on Pecan Street, and they still make the best shrimp po’boys in three parishes."

They didn’t speak again until they were settled in a high-backed booth in the far corner. The vinyl seats were cracked and held together with duct tape, but their voices couldn’t be heard over the hum of the air conditioning unit. No point letting the whole parish in on their discussion.

She waited until the waiter left with their order before broaching the subject she’d debated sharing with Remy. "Starting something with Don Cryer might not have been the best idea. He’s not a very nice man and he holds a grudge."

Remy flashed her a cocky grin. "You haven’t been around me much over the last years, but I can be a badass myself, if need be. I don’t hold a grudge, but I don’t put up with shit, either. Cryer pointed a loaded gun at us. If I’d backed down, I’d have lost the respect of every man for a hundred miles, and no one in this parish would have told me anything. I don’t care about popularity, but I do intend to find my daughter, and that takes information."

Gabby felt a knot form in her stomach. Just like always, Remy wasn’t listening to her. "Did you see that house? And the land it sat on? The place must be worth millions. Dan didn’t get that playing by the rules. Now there’s rumors Dan’s bringing drugs in from Texas, maybe even New Orleans and Baton Rouge. You can’t find Adrienne if you’re dead. And even if he doesn’t kill you, Adrienne and I have to live in this town after you’re gone."

Oops. Had she really said that? She sank back against the cushions. Well, it was true. Like before, Remy would rush in, think he had to save her, and just when she got used to having him around, he’d be gone. And she’d have to learn to live without him all over again.

"Is that what this is about, the elephant in the room? I’m sorry I called you my wife. If it insults you that much, I’ll go back and retract the statement."

MY REVIEW: Voodoo on Bayou LafonteVoodoo on Bayou Lafonte by Susan C. Muller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Voodoo on Bayou Lafonte is a January 2014 Soul Mate Publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When Remy gets an urgent phone call from his ex-wife, Gabby, telling him their teenage daughter, Adrienne has gone missing, he leave Texas and head back home to Louisiana to find his daughter.
Being is law enforcement, Remy has a little help from some old friends. That's a good thing, because they sure aren't getting much help for the local authorities who are saying the girl probably just ran away.
When Remy begins asking questions he continues to hear rumors about dark voodoo practices. He and Gabby are puzzled by the rumors at first. However, it is beginning to look more and more as though Adrienne has fallen victim to some kind of crime and not only that, she is in far more trouble than they originally thought.

This was a good paranormal romantic suspense novel. I enjoyed reading about characters I felt I could relate to. I have lived in Louisiana and now live in Texas, so I was sort of familiar with the setting. I could envision the humidity, the swamps and the wonderful dishes Gabby cooked up.

I enjoyed the romance between Gabby and Remy who are reunited after a divorce. Each made mistakes when they were younger and each have held on to bitterness and placed blame on one another unfairly. Now as adults it might be possible to forgive each other and make a life together, but first they have to find their daughter and get out of a spooky situation alive.

Although, dark voodoo practices were responsible for certain paranormal happenings, good old fashioned crime and greed also played a big part in the story.
Overall this was a well rounded novel which would appeal to lovers of paranormal romance and romantic suspense/ mystery. Overall I give this one an A.

Seeking the help of an ex-lover ignites feelings she’s promised never to have again. She’ll need to untangle herself from dangers in her past in order to break the hard shell around her heart.

Edward Weston has a lot to prove, both to his stuffy upper-crust British family, and to himself. Working alongside Kate, a woman he had a casual relationship with, stirs unexpected feelings. Helping her family makes him realize what he's missing. For the first time, he wants more than a one-night stand.

When Kate is threatened, Edward must overcome feeling unworthy to protect the woman he loves and fight for the family he never thought he’d have.

EXERPT:

Edward raised an eyebrow toward her. "Are you sure you’re up for sledding?" he asked, with a glance down at her black high-heeled boots.

She shot him a challenging look. "Only if we race against you."

"Me?"

"Lucas and I against you. Loser buys dinner."

He studied her, almost as though he were weighing how he could turn this contest in his favor. Then he turned to Lucas. "Why don’t you grab two sleds, sport, while I negotiate with Kate?"

Lucas nodded and ran off.

Edward hooked his fingers in her jacket pockets and pulled her closer. "How about if I win, you go on a date with me?"

"That’s playing dirty."

"Very well. You can explain to Lucas why we’re not racing."

"I can’t do that. Just look at how excited he is." She nodded over to where Lucas stood waiting for available sleds, jumping up and down and an enthusiastic grin on his face.

"My sled, my rules, or are you afraid you’ll lose?"

He struck a nerve and he knew it. She couldn’t back down from the challenge. Besides, she’d been rethinking the whole not-dating thing and almost convinced herself she was being ridiculous for fighting their attraction. So no matter what happened, she’d figured she’d win.

She met the challenge of his gaze. "One date—and don’t expect sex."

He attempted to look shocked, but one side of his mouth twitched. "Certainly not."

"Fine. Be prepared to lose."

BLURB:

Jeb, a former slave, rescues his brother-in-law Crispus from the Ku Klux Klan, only to be drawn into a world of Creole Voodoo, racism, time travel, and redemption.

Verdiss, the leader of the Ku Klux Klan has gained possession of the Pharaoh's Staff, a magical artifact from ancient Egypt and concocted a diabolical plan far more insidious than himself.

In the end, Jeb and Crispus must stop an entire people from eradication and each find redemption for their own past sins.

EXCERPT

Verdiss ran his fingers over the cauldron’s lips, still amazed at what he’d discovered there. He’d been studying the Oera Linda Book, a Frisian manuscript discussing the mythologies, histories, and religions of long lost civilizations. The most prominent was Thule, a land ruled by a blond, blue-eyed race far superior to mankind. Scholars placed it near Norway. The Geist Führer’s voice had called Verdiss to the grove of grim, leaning trees. He spoke of leading the world back to the glorious age when Thule dominated the world. The Geist Führer promised Verdiss those of tainted blood would be eradicated. There’d be peace among the worthy.

"Geist Führer." Verdiss waved his bulbous hands over the boiling water, pulling the magic from his very will. He hated performing these accursed rites, but they were a necessity. "I seek your counsel." The wind picked up, his robes rustling. An unnatural wind. Power tingled in the air. The charge grew hotter as Verdiss came closer to contact.

"Dear Verdiss…" came the unholy voice, seething from within the cauldron.

BOUNCE BY K.M. JACKSON- BOOK BLITZ AND GIVEAWAY!!

Summary

Growing up as a young girl, Sabrina Jacobs could only dream her life would be this good. She has a successful career, a famous sexy husband, two children, a house in an affluent Westchester suburb and a shoe collection worthy of a magazine spread. Too bad it’s all a façade.

It has been almost a year since her husband admitted he had an affair with a younger and bouncier co-worker. Follow Sabrina as she tries to rein in her out-of-control life by kicking her husband out on his rear, chucking her career and even firing her too-cute-for-the-job nanny. But how will she survive as a stay-at-home mom in the land of designer clothes, designer kids’ parties and designer babies? Hmm… maybe the hunky young French teacher, who has been flirting shamelessly with Sabrina, is just what she needs to take her mind off her problems. Well, not if her husband has something to say about it. Will Sabrina be able to forgive and still be true to herself?

Excerpt

I give Sean a weak smile and pull him towards me. I kiss him deeply. And I can feel the immediate surprise course though his body. But the surprise doesn’t stop him and it doesn’t take much to get him going. He instantly falls into action, running his large hands up and down my back. Kissing my neck then trailing his tongue down toward my breasts.

I let my mind drift as his mouth wanders. Off to the past. To the time when Sean used to woo me by playing my favorite songs for hours on end. The lyrics talking about being with me until the end of time flow through my memory as Sean continues his languid journey stopping at all the places he knows too well to get just the desired response from me. He kisses and I shift. He licks and I sigh. He strokes and I arch. All the while my body goes from sensation to sensation while my mind is at war going from memory to memory. Pleasure to pain. Opening doors to rooms that I don’t want to see. Images that I’m too afraid to face.

“Baby, where are you?”

I look up. Surprised to see Sean above me. Eyes filled with worry and questions. A part of me wants to close my own eyes and turn away, but I don’t. I face him straight on. “I’m here. Right here.” I give him a smile then angle up to kiss him.
Going deep putting my hand between our bodies and guiding him to my center. He fills me and I let my eyes close. Shutting one door and opening another. Letting him in fully and completely. Mind on the future.

CATERING TO THE ITALIAN PLAYBOY BY TAMELIA TUMLIN

Catering to the Italian PlayboyCatering to the Italian Playboy by Tamelia Tumlin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Catering to the Italian Playboy by Tamelia Tumlin is a 2012 Steel Magnolia Publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the SMP street team in exchange for an honest review.

Six years ago, Sophie had a fling with Max. It was a one night stand and Sophie took off afterwards and never saw Max again... until now, that is. The timing would never have been right to run into Max after all this time, but it had to be when Sophie had to take care of an embarrassing assignment. She recognized Max, but he didn't seem to know who she was. She didn't think he remembered her, but he remembered her alright. He had never really gotten her out of his system. When Max discovers that Sophie not only remembers him too, but has a little souvenir of that night they shared together, Max's life changes forever.

This contemporary romance is light hearted, but there are real issues addressed. We all make decisions based on the information we have. Sometimes though we don't have all the information we need and we draw a wrong conclusion. This was the case in this story. Sophie had a troubled life growing up and was bitter towards her father. She was also brave and strong and was capable of taking care of herself without anyone's help. But, of course, help would be nice. For Sophie though the type of help Max wants to offer is changing her life up and she is having a hard time with the adjustment. The fact remains though that the two of them are tied to one another no matter what - forever. The question is will they work together as a couple or will they always keep their own personal lives separate? Will they be able to work things out as adults and do the right thing?

This book is not all that long, but there is a good deal of character growth and development. Many people can relate to Sophie's situation and it would be really hard to make the adjustments she is forced to make once Max is back in her life. She is also a product of her past and she is grieving the loss of her mother and feels like she should have done more for her.

Max was a free wheeling business man that naturally attracted the ladies. He had no ties or obligations other than business responsibilities. Now Max is faced with a serious responsibility and obligation and is trying to do the right thing for all concerned. Yet, he is still holding back from Sophie claiming that marriage is just not for him.
Overall I really liked the story and I loved the ending. Closure and forgiveness and a HEA. Overall this one is an A.

INTERVIEW WITH TAMELIA TUMLIN

Tamelia has been nice enough to take time from her very busy schedule to answer a few questions for us.  Welcome Tamelia!

1. When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I knew I wanted to be a writer when I was fourteen. I loved to read and would spend all of my spare time reading the young adult Silhouette romance series branded First Love. During my fourteenth summer I decided to try my hand at writing one myself. After all, how hard could it be? That summer Tender Yearning was born. Of course I had high hopes when I sent it to several publishers including Silhouette First Love. Naturally, it was rejected by all of the publishers, but I did receive a very encouraging personal rejection with feedback from the editor of Silhouette. Later, I would realize how very important that is in the publishing business. Even though Tender Yearning never saw the

light of day, all was not for naught. I learned three lessons that summer. One, I COULD write a complete book from start to finish. Two, weaving a solid story is hard work and takes practice. Three, I truly loved writing and would make it one day.

2. Do you write from home or do you have an office?

I write from home, usually from the couch while refereeing puppies and tending to my son.

3. How do you like to spend your spare time?

Spare time? What is that? Okay seriously, when I finally do have a few unaccounted for minutes I like to try new recipes (that’s not always a good idea I’ve discovered), read, and travel whenever possible. I’ve decided I have gypsy blood in my lineage somewhere because I would travel ALL the time if I could.

4. Where can readers contact you?

HYPERLINK "https://www.facebook.com/tamelia.tumlin" https://www.facebook.com/tamelia.tumlin

HYPERLINK "http://www.tameliatumlin.com" www.tameliatumlin.com

5. What are you reading now?

At the moment I’m reading a Steeple Hill Love-Inspired Suspense, Holiday Hero by Shirlee McCoy

6. Who is your favorite romance novel hero?

My favorite romance novel hero is Rhett Butler.

7. Name your top five favorite romance novels.

I love all of Debbie Macomber’s books, but I especially loved her mercenary series ( Deliverance Company) . Someday Soon, Sooner or Later and The Sooner the Better

I also love Margaret Daley’s Heart of the Amazon and Cheryl Wyatt’s A Soldier’s Promise

8. What are you working on now?

A couple of things actually. I’m working on my next Italian romance as well as the next Gatekeeper’s novella. I also have a backlist novel which will be released with Steel Magnolia Press early summer. But, I’m itching to start a brand new story.

9. Tell us a little about your dogs.

My dogs are my babies. They have no idea they are not people. Very spoiled and like their human mama they love to go, eat and sport new clothes. Now, I hadn’t planned on getting any inside animals for a while, but a friend of mine who works in animal rescue knew someone who needed to find homes for her chiweenie (Chihuahua and Dachshund mix puppies). One of the puppies was born with a crippled back leg and the owners weren’t sure if he’d ever be able to run and play or even walk well. Though, my puppies weren’t actually shelter babies, I knew the crippled little guy needed a good home so I decided to take him even before I saw any of the puppies. Good thing too, since he hobbled straight to me when I went out to see them in the kennel. Of course, I didn’t want my new little fur baby to be alone all day while I worked so I took one of his sister’s too so he’d have company. Now, Duke and Duchess pretty much rule the house and you’ll be happy to know that Duke (the little crippled guy) runs and plays just fine. He has to hobble when he runs since his back leg won’t straighten out, but he doesn’t let it stop him. Both are happy, healthy and will be a year old next month. And of course, they both have my heart.

10. Do you have a favorite quote you’d like to share?

Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.
Nido Qubein

SECRETS AND LIES BY CHRISTINE AMSDEN

Secrets and Lies ( Cassie Scot #2) by Christine Amsden is a 2013 Twilight Times Publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This second in the Cassie Scot Paranormal Detective series picks up where the first one left off. Cassie has moved in with her friend and is out of a job, estranged from her parents, broken up with her boyfriend and struggling with her feelings for Evan. When two girls disappear from camp, Cassie looks into the case, although her boss still hasn't hired her back.
Meanwhile, Cassie's pregnant mother is not doing so well. When all else fails, she is hospitalized. Cassie is guilted into visiting her. The result is the revelation of a shocking secret from her mother's past that goes a long way in explaining why Cassie finds herself in the situation she has lived with her whole life.. her lack of magical abilities.
The issues with Evan's family and Cassie's family that have caused them to become bitter enemies is still a mystery to Cassie and Evan. But, Evan will be given a hint of why Cassie's family have such strong feelings against his father. The truth will knock him to his knees.

This chapter in the series is more powerful than the first one was. Things really begin heat up as Cassie learns more about her mother's past, admits her feelings for Evan, still kicks butt as a detective, and tries to help a friend going through a really hard time. The secrets are stunning and I think that Cassie will have a chance to heal the rift between herself and her family in time. It won't be easy, but it's obvious they do love her. As for Evan, only time will tell. There is still a great many questions that will have to be answered and once the chips fall the results are sure to be mind blowing.

Cassie is a person that despite being from a magical family is someone people can relate to. She is different and suffers prejudice as a result. But, she doesn't let it get to her. She moves forward no matter what life throws at her. She isn't superwoman, she doesn't have a natural ability like her siblings, she is as normal as her life will allow. She is a good friend, a good daughter, a good sister and a good example. She is someone you can imagine being friends with in real life.
The only thing I get angry about is that so often is seems Cassie ends up going it alone. Having to keep her family secrets and being different from them, and with her friends all being involved in their own problems, Evan is in constant conflict, Cassie sort of slips through the cracks. But, if it makes any difference, I'm in her corner cheering her on.
I can not recommend this series highly enough. If you like paranormal mystery and romance, YA or New Adult you will love this series. This one is an A+

A Click That Changed My Life by Victoria Vorel is a 2011 self publication. I was provided a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

It isn't a new thing by any means for people to connect online and for relationships to develop. I have met many people online that I consider friends although we have never met face to face. For those looking for a something deeper than friendship, online dating is the most common way of meeting people.

For Victoria her personal experience was unique in that she was Latino, had been married long enough to see her two children into adulthood. She was in her early fifties and was ready to experience a relationship with a man that would respect her and view her as an equal companion and lover. Victoria deliberately sought out someone from a country other than her own. She met a man named Kurt. They corresponded over a seven month period and decided they were ready to begin a life together.
This book is a true story, although the names have been changed. Victoria takes us on her personal journey of meeting a man on the internet, falling in love, deciding to marry, introducing each other to their families, and learning the cultures of other countries. Victoria has experienced so much in the years since she met Kurt. Wonderful travels and a solid relationship as given her an entirely new perspective on life. It is obvious that Victoria is a very contented woman, full of joy and peace.

Victoria is a person who has had a life altering experience and now sees the world though the eyes of a woman in love and a woman that took control of her life and wasn't afraid to call out her country for it's attitudes.
While she found the love of her life via the internet, she does urge people to proceed with caution.
I enjoyed reading about Victoria's journey. Her travels were of particular interest and I felt the author did a good job of describing the points of interest she was fortunate enough to experience. The new family she has, the new customs she learned and new life she has built is really amazing.
I hope Victoria continues to feel the joy and peace she has worked to obtain.

Told in first person, Victoria does a great job of writing in English. There were some phrases which made it obvious she was not using her native language when writing. But, she has amazing grammar skills, considering.

Overall I will give this one an A.

MY REVIEW:

A Little Too Hot by Lisa Desrochers is a 2014 Avon publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

The last time we checked in on Sam, she was finding out the guy she was in love with was in love with someone else. If that weren't shocking enough, when she finds out who he is in love with, Sam is devastated. Since then, Sam has been having a few problems. She is still brokenhearted, she partied more than studied and has flunked out of college, she was kicked out of her parents home, and now she has found that finding a place to sleep free of charge is not going to happen. Crashing at her musician friend's place, she is told that if she wants to stay she has to pay rent. Jonathan tells her about a place that is looking for help. The catch? She would have to be an exotic dancer. At first Sam balks at his suggestion- until she finds out how much money she can make. So, she gives it a try.

After her first very successful dance, she finds she has caught the eye of a very hot guy. He is so taken with her, he pays for a private dance. His name is Harrison and Sam is finding it harder and harder to obey the rules of the private dance room, which means no touching.

But, Sam finds her crush on Harrison is the least of her worries. It doesn't take long for Harrison to turn Sam's life upside down for real- because Harrison is not who he claims to be. Not only that, he drags Sam into an extremely dangerous situation that could get them all killed.

I was happy to find this third novel in the series to be a bit more edgy. Things are going along at a pretty good clip for the first several chapters. I'm wondering where we are going with all this because I can't really see Sam making a career out of exotic dancing. However, I was sucker punched when we find out what Harrison has been up to all that time. What? Are you kidding me?
Then things just go from bad to worse. Sam and her friends are all in for the fight of their lives. Sam will have to put up with Harrison for a while and now she wishes she could escape from him and get her life back.

This book took me into a seedy world of crime and greed that pulled several innocent people down into it's depths. I would go so far as to say this novel would fit into the romantic suspense genre in some ways. While the author's style is still there, I can see this author's talent growing with each book I read by her.
This was a great read, very high octane and sexy, and emotional as well, especially when we see Sam getting a little closure in regards to relationships from the past, and the promise of a solid future. This one gets an A.

Prequel to Betrayals of the Heart)

[Kindle Edition]

Publication Date: December 25, 2013

Book Description

Lady Amelia Fitzailwyn knows everything about everything. She certainly does not require Finishing School. If John and Alex had not tattled on her, she would still be home! It was fine for them to chase every skirt in the Kingdom but she has one kiss ...or two, and Uncle carts her off!

Day one of her banishment at Madame de Rigeur's Young Ladies Finishing Academie is dismal. Her roommate is insular, Clarissa is cruel...and that spotty girl's rash is probably contagious! Then, she meets Monsieur Pelfrie, the handsomest man she has ever seen, and Amelia decides it might just be possible to endure the two long years away .

Enjoy this delightful tale of mischief and mayhem as a sheltered young woman comes of age in Georgian England.

3.5 stars

"I thought that the book was a lovely little piece and one that I thought was rather unique because it takes place in a finishing school in England. I personally haven't read anything like it before and for a historical fiction lover I thought that this was a delightful little surprise.

I really liked how it was written. The writing was light and easy to read and the authors paid particular attention to details about the language and how people spoke at the time as well as the setting. Nothing bothers me more than when I read a book that is set in a different time period but the author uses modern speech, for me there is no quicker way to ruin a book than that.

What I loved most about the book is that the girls at the finishing school with Amelia all have a mischievous streak in them which I thought was great because as we all know Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich. I thought that the fact that the girls were less than perfect was wonderful.

I really enjoyed this little novel and it's one that I would recommend to people who like historical fiction. It's a great story and I can't wait to read more in this series!"

About the author

HYPERLINK "http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B005D5IQ1W" Scarlett Rains left the womb with pen in hand...which might explain why her mother carted her off to a children's home at an early age. Not one to let such things distract her from nurturing her creative talent, she lived, learned, laughed and loved her way through what could have been a traumatic childhood.

That little bend in the road, and a battle with breast cancer, could not stop Scarlett from writing. The more emotionally evocative events of her life made her appreciate her shared humanity and the desperate need that most people have to laugh. Scarlett keeps those memories close when she writes. She draws on the personalities of the wonderful people she has been blessed to encounter when she develops her characters, always striving to make her readers laugh so that they may escape their worries for awhile.

Scarlett is a clinician by profession, though she is trying hard to deny that so as to continue writing. We wish her every success. Her books are enjoyed by readers around the world and we would hate to lose such a talented author.

Short Excerpt

Now that Quentin knew exactly what lay beneath the baggy trousers and loose fitting

shirt, he stood captivated by her, stunned he had ever thought her a boy.

Ally’s gentle touch with the horses went beyond good horsemanship. The horses flicked their ears back and forth when she talked to them and swished their tails in appreciation of her calming manner. Hell, he wanted to be one of those horses.

MY REVIEW:
The Blacksmith's Son by Rebecca Thomas is a Entangled publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When Quentin discovers a youth being beaten, he intervenes. The boy is knocked out, but Quentin carries him home and gets the shock of his life when he finds that the boy is a girl. A very beautiful girl that loves horses and is hiding a dark secret. When people show up looking for Ally, Quinton knows the girl is in some kind of trouble. Is Ally on the run for a crime she committed or she is on the run because of some other reason?
With each day Ally and Quentin get closer through their mutual interest in horses and their attraction to one another. Ally learns that they have a connection through her former employee and neither of them have had a great experience with the man.
There is a bit of a mystery involving Quentin's sister and what drove her to make the decision she made before she died.
This novella is recommended for historical romance lovers and especially those of you that love horses. A quick, easy read that could lead into a more in depth novel for some of the characters in this story. Overall this one is a B.
