MY REVIEW:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The Talisman- Molly’ Story by Eliza J. Scott is a 2019 publication.
A charming story about life, love lost and found, second chances and new beginnings-
Molly, Pip, and their three children move into a Georgian Farmhouse with plans to expand into the ‘
There are the usual family dilemmas, dramas, comedies and challenges of marriage, friendships, and small- town life to contend with, but all in all Molly is contented enough, until her world is spun upside down by an unforeseeable tragedy. As Molly struggles to put her life back together, karma comes calling, bringing with it a second chance at happiness for Molly and her family.
This is a delightful story filled with quirky characters and situations, depicting the understandable challenges of everyday life. While the characters are somewhat exaggerated for effect, the realities of raising children, realizing a dream, coping with illness and tragedy, enjoying friends and community, and coping with a few unpleasant residents, sounds a lot like real life.
Some of you will laugh, but it just goes to show that you don’t have to read heavy literature to learn something new. I had no idea what ‘
The story runs just a little too long and might benefit from a few cuts here or there for the sake of momentum. Molly’s temperament is a little over the top, bordering on ‘anger management’ territory, which couldn’t be healthy.
But, overall, I enjoyed reading about Molly’s life and her community, which is a little different, but often fun and humorous. Molly may have a hot temper, but she is a good person, and it was nice to see her rewarded for that, in the most unexpected ways. Molly’s love story is sweet and maybe a little magical too.
