Boys of Bishop, book #2

Perfect for readers of Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Rachel Gibson, Molly O’Keefe’s second novel in her exciting new series—The Boys of Bishop—features an irresistible romance and unforgettable characters in a page-turning story that delivers equal parts emotion and humor . . . with a little edge to boot.

As the daughter of a wealthy politician, Ashley Montgomery has had enough of her parents’ expectations for her future and is going her own way, volunteering to work at a refugee camp in Africa. But her act of charity turns dangerous when she takes a boat trip and is abducted by Somali pirates. Enter Brody Baxter, who was a bodyguard for the Montgomery family ten years ago and doesn’t think twice about coming to Ashley’s rescue. Handsome and tough, Brody has always done what needed to be done. So he swoops in, saves Ashley, and brings her to a place where she can rest and recuperate without the glare of the press and her demanding family: Brody’s small hometown of Bishop, Arkansas. But Ashley soon realizes that she’s not the only one in need of healing.

Holed up with Ashley in a tiny apartment over his brother’s bar in Bishop, Brody is tempted and torn in ways he never anticipated. Beautiful Ashley, vibrant despite her ordeal, fearless enough to love him beyond his wall of self-punishment, is now determined to save him. But with a little faith and a lot of love, they just may find happiness in each others’ arms.

Roller Coaster - Everything But The Girl. Ashley has been wounded by her parents, by Brody when she was younger and she's taken all that hurt and run away. And she lives in a high-adrenaline world with very high stakes and that has allowed her not to have to deal with her family. Or with Brody. Until, of course, Brody saves her from that dangerous world she lives in. Her life is a roller coaster that she's disconnected from.

And when your sky falls to minus zero
Some things must disappear
Oh, this is my road to my redemption

Something Beautiful - Needtobreathe. This is Brody's grovel soundtrack. What he has wanted and what he's been most scared of are the same thing - love. Something beautiful.

And the water is risin' quick
And for years I was scared of it
We can't be sure when it will subside
So I won't leave your side, no I can't leave your side

Fix You - Cold Play. This is an interesting song for both of them. Brody is a caregiver hero - he wants to protect and heal Ashley. But Ashley wants to heal all the heartache Brody has suffered over his life. They both want to fix the other - and "guide you home"

And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Demons -Imagine Dragons. When this song exploded across the world last year every romance writer I know that - "That's my hero!" All that damage. All that angst. All those demons.

When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
Don’t get too close
It’s dark inside
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide

Slow Burning Fire - The Skydiggers (Originally by Tammy Wynette) This is Sean and Cora's song, that moment when he realizes what he feels for her is something way more than friendship.

You look in my eyes just a little too long
Before I can look away but lately
I've caught you staring at me
With a new kind of look on your face

Timshel - Mumford and Sons This is my song for Sean and Brody. Sean wants a deeper relationship with his brother. Would stand beside him forever, if Brody would only let him. But Brody pushes Sean away like he pushes everyone else.

But you are not alone in this
And you are not alone in this
As brothers we will stand and we'll hold your hand
Hold your hand

And I will tell the night
Whisper, "Lose your sight"
But I can't move the mountains for you

Rain - Patty Griffin - Ashley's song for Brody. She's sort of resigned to the fact that he won't be able to give her what she needs. But she's just not sure when she should give up the fight.

Its hard to know when to give up the fight
Two things you want will just never be right
Its never rained like it has to night before
Now I don't wanna beg you baby
For something maybe you could never give
I'm not looking for the rest of your life
I just want another chance to live

Pull Me Down - The Skydiggers. This is just the sexiest song. This song would be on all my playlists for every romance... and there really aren't that many lyrics. So just understand he's asking her to pull him down on top of her, one more time...

Shut Up and Kiss Me - Mary Chapin Carpenter (thanks to Elizabeth Lane via twitter for this one) Because Ashley all but says "shut up and kiss me, you fool!" And because this song is just so fun.

Don't mean to get a little forward with you, don't mean to get ahead of where we are
Don't mean to act a little nervous around you, I'm just a little nervous about my heart 'cause
It's been awhile since I felt this feeling that everything that you do gives me
